I’ll do an official campground review later, but I wanted to share how much we’ve been enjoying our stay here at Santa Fe Skies RV Park.

The campground is located on the south tail end of the town of Santa Fe, on a rise that offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but that’s understandable since we’re here during the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, which is super-peak time for this area. I heard the statistic that the population of Albuquerque multiplies by a factor of 3 during the Fiesta! It’s no wonder that this Park has been sold out virtually the entire time we’ve been here.

Santa Fe Skies has several amenities that I am especially enjoying. One is a lovely gravel hiking trail that snakes around the outside perimeter of the Park. They say it is 3/4 mile long, but my GPS says it’s more like .7 mile. But if you do a lot of laps, you can get in any mileage you like! The trail’s rolling terrain coupled with Santa Fe’s 7200 foot elevation turns a brisk walk into quite a nice workout! Another great amenity is the all-day free hot beverage (pod) station in the office. They offer a nice selection of coffees, teas and hot chocolate to campers. Jeff doesn’t even make his own coffee now, he just heads to the office for a fresh cup of Donut Blend. I’m partial to the Chai Latte.

The Park is home to a couple dozen metal art sculptures, scattered throughout. Made by a local artist, they are apparently for sale. I saw at least one disappear during our stay, so the marketing approach must work! I have no idea what they go for, but they definitely add a certain visual interest. At one end of the park is an extensive graveyard of old tractors, pumps, and other farming equipment. Junk or art – you be the judge!

We still have another week here to enjoy the tidy site, clean restroom, hot showers, and free coffee/tea. I have another week to watch the brilliantly colored sunset turn to night and the bright stars winking in the clear, black night sky. But then it will be time to move on as the weather is turning steadily colder. It will be time to head back south!
