This is a snapshot of our travel history!
2020 In Review — Pandemic Disruption
The year started off auspiciously: holidays with family and a marvelous early February Caribbean cruise with my sister. But then …. COVID hit. We cancelled three planned stops, and hunkered down in our Gatlinburg cabin for 6 weeks during the initial shutdown phase. Finally, we resumed our Northeast loop and did as much sightseeing as we could, considering that so many attractions remained closed. Still, we explored Boston, Portland and Acadia National Park. We hit the heights atop Mount Washington and enjoyed the flavors of Pennsylvania Amish Country. We had our rig serviced at both Spartan and Entegra factories, and then visited my Indiana hometown before heading west. A 2020 highlight was visiting spectacular Carlsbad Caverns. Arriving at our winter spot in Tucson was initially depressing, as most everything was closed. However, we made some new friends, which made all the difference! We decided to make this our winter destination for the foreseeable future. P.S. We still collected stinkbugs on our trek through the Midwest and were smashing them all winter!!
2019 in Review – the Friends and Family loop
Our second year of full-timing went more smoothly than the first, as we became more accustomed to life on the road. We had our rig serviced at both the Entegra factory and Spartan motors, which fixed virtually all of our mechanical issues. We started the year with a month in our beloved Gatlinburg cabin. Our travel through the Midwest allowed us to spend some great quality time with family and friends in Indiana and Michigan. New parks for us included Mammoth Cave National Park, Indiana Dunes, and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We had a few challenges including dealing with a fire at our cabin and an invasion of stupid stinkbugs! We spent the winter season in a Florida adult RV community, enjoying the many amenities and activities. While stationary for 5 months, we took the opportunity to travel back to South Florida, to our cabin (to complete repairs) and even went on a Southern Caribbean cruise!
2018 in Review – Our First Year!
Overview: Our first year of full time RV living! We saw a ton of National Parks including Sequoia, Yosemite, Crater Lake, Big Bend, Saguaro, Arches, Glacier, Mt. Rainier, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyon, Zion, Yellowstone, – just to name a few. We met friends in Texas, who later joined us for Yellowstone fun. We had fun with Jeff’s brother in Vegas, visited family in Montana, and made new friends on the road. We had a few scary moments on the road like when we discovered badly worn steer tires, and the time our tow bar broke. We climbed into cliff dwellings, explored museums, visited local fairs, shopped local markets, hiked and biked a variety of trails, and explored new territory by motorcycle. I even took a balloon ride! Finally, we circled back to Orlando, spending the winter months visiting our son and Disney World. In our first year we have learned that we prefer to slow down a bit – we can take our time getting to everything!
